There are five Great Lakes: Superior, Huron, Michigan, Ontario, and Erie.   • International Scurvy Awareness Day
    International Scurvy Awareness Day is celebrated every May 2nd. Scurvy is a condition typified by fatigue, muscle weakness, joint and muscle aches, rash on the legs and bleeding gums and is caused by a lack of Vitamin C. Most of us know Scurvy as a common ailment suffered by sailors, soldiers and others who did not have access to fresh fruit and vegetables for extended periods of time. So make sure to get your helpings of Vitamin C to stay healthy! 
  • National Play Your Ukulele Day
    National Play Your Ukelele Day was first  celebrated in 2011. This holiday is celebrated under the slogan bring the world together, four strings at a time. If you don’t know what a Ukulele is, then it is a four-stringed instrument that was first popularized in Hawaii in the late 19th century.
  • National Truffle Day
    A truffle is as delicious piece of soft chocolate or ganache center with a hard chocolate coat on top. There is some debate whether France’e Chef Auguste Escoffier or N. Petruccelli of Chambery created the first truffles, but either way, we enjoy enjoying them today, so thank you to whoever it was!
  • World Tuna Day
    Tuna is a delicious, healthy and affordable food for humans. It is a significant source for Omega 3, Vitamin B12, proteins and other minerals. But we must be aware of how our fishing industry affects our world.  Every year on May 2, world Tuna Day is observed to spread awareness among people about Tuna fish regarding sustainable fishing practices and how they have become endangered species due to the high demand for their meat. This day was established by United Nations in 2016 by the UN General Assembly to preserve the Tuna fish.
