National Disc Jockey Day recognizes is an annual observance on January 20th that recognizes DJs, our wonderful music playing, disc spinning talents. This is a day to appreciate all Disc Jockeys whether playing in a big club, a small bar, playing at a wedding, making YouTube videos or just sitting your room playing around just making music.

National Disc Jockey Day honors the death of Albert “Alan” James Freed. Freed, also known as Moondog. Moondog was an influential disc jockey in the 1950s. He termed the phrase “rock ‘n’ roll” that was used to describe this new genre of music.
